NEW YORK STATE OSHA 10 REQUIREMENTS:
Since 2008 an OSHA certification is mandatory on ALL "public work project that are required under Article 8 to receive the prevailing wage."

NEW YORK CITY OSHA10 REQUIREMENTS:
Legislation states "All active trade workers, managers, foremen and project superintendents working at major buildings sites must complete this training." It also states, "Site safety plans must include a statement that all workers have completed the required 10-Hour OSHA".


NOTE: New York City does require renewal of the training every 5 years.

NEW YORK CITY FIRE GUARD REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSTRUCTION SITES MANDATE OSHA 10:
In the fire guard study material (F-60) it states as a special note: "Special Note: A watchperson is often required from 2400-0800 (Midnight – 8 AM) for construction site. In addition, all fire guards and watchperson should complete OSHA 10 hour training." (Note: A watch person is synonymous for a security officer in this context.)


In conclusion, state, city and local legislation recommend/mandate this safety certification for employment.
